Supporting learning at home

On this page you will find a range of resources designed to help you in supporting your children's learning at home. Learning is most effective when there is a successful partnership between home and school; we hope you find these resources useful.

Reading with your child at home is the most important and beneficial activity to support their learning in school. We kindly ask that an adult reads with your child five times a week to support the development of their decoding, fluency and comprehension.

You can also find guidance on supporting your child's writing and reading on our Manor Curriculum Page, located here.

In Year 4, children must sit a statutory times tables test, assessing their understanding and fluency in times tables recall up to 12x12. To support your child to become best prepared for this, we have signed up to Times Tables Rock Stars. Your child will have their own login and can use this app to practise their tables, whilst having fun and competing with friends.

You can access Times Tables Rock Stars below.

You can also log in to Purple Mash at home. Purple Mash is our Computing Platform that the children use in school. There are a wide range of maths activities (including also Topic/English) which the children can use to consolidate their learning at home. With both websites, if your child has forgotten their logins, please speak to your class teacher and they will retrieve it for you.

You can best support your children in developing their subject knowledge using our knowledge organisers. You may wish to quiz them on different areas, see which parts they can remember, or play games linked to them! You can find your child's knowledge organisers on the class letters page here.

Successful Learning (Gems)

In school, we use the language of our gem powers.

The gem powers label the behaviours of successful learners and we celebrate them in school. You can use these too at home!

Please refer to our Gem Power page here for more information.
