Emergency Activities - Winter 2010/11

In the event that the school has to close at short notice, children need to continue their learning as well as they can at home. Teachers have given the children some ideas that will be appropriate for each class. Additional activities might include:

• Writing 'Thank you' letters to those who have given Christmas presents.
• Keeping a diary.
• Writing a list of instructions to tell someone how to ... (e.g. make a sandwich, turn on the DVD player, make the bed etc).
• Help an adult to do some baking and write out the recipe.

Our new theme for Collective worship in the New Year will be 'Peace', so children could discuss some of the following questions with the family:

• What peaceful activities do members of your family do together?
• How can you make up after an argument or disagreement?
• Write a prayer for peace

I have received this link from SWGFL and it's excellent for 'home learning'. It covers all subject areas in each key stage and would be great to add to our website. There are lots of ideas of activities the children can choose to do, as well as links to other websites that are very useful.
