At The Manor CE Primary, we use assessment for learning as a key tool in making sure that our teaching is matched accurately to the needs of our learners to enable them all to make at least good progress and to provide parents and carers with a clear picture of where their child is compared to the national expectation for their year group.


We formally assess our learners three times per year (autumn, spring and summer term) in the core areas of learning- English and Mathematics. These assessments are carried out by teachers who look through the children's learning and any additional evidence to come to a judgement about a child's attainment and progress. Presently we use a system called 'Assessing Pupil Progress' to assess our learners although we are trialling a new system of assessment in line with the new National Curriculum which we will be using from September 2015. 


Towards the end of Year 6, all pupils will participate in Standardised Assessment Tests [SATs]. These written tests focus on English (reading, spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Mathematics.  The results of these externally marked tests will be included in the children’s Annual Report, together with Teacher Assessed Levels for these subjects.
